Ali Mohammed

Field Placement Graduate Student

Ali is a dedicated Master of Social Work student with a strong background in community service. Hailing from Erbil, Kurdistan, his work extends to diverse communities in Winnipeg, emphasizing inclusivity and cross-cultural awareness. Ali has over a year of experience with the Main Street Project’s shelter and Intoxicated Persons Detention Act programs, which cultivated a deep understanding of homelessness and substance abuse issues. His experience also includes years of working with IDPs and refugees in UNHCR camps, highlighting his dedication to supporting those facing complex challenges. 

Ali aspires to bridge the gap between research and practice in academia, creating culturally sensitive healthcare and community-based services models. He’s dedicated his career to improving the lives of marginalized individuals and communities.
